‘Tis the season to be crafty! Children will enjoy creating simple, yet stunning, mini Christmas trees made from pine cones. This pine cone Christmas tree craft allows kids to create dazzling centerpieces that parents will be proud to display.
Hot glue gun
Embellishments of your choosing such as ribbon, gum drops, beads, and glitter
Photo finish spray, high gloss (optional)
If possible, take the children on a leisurely nature walk to collect pine cones. Make sure the pine cones are open. If they are not, put them on a baking sheet in an oven at
200 degrees Fahrenheit until they open. Next, using a paint brush, paint the pinecones with green paint. White paint may be used to add frosted tips to the tree. Sprinkle
glitter for added shimmer. Allow the pine cone to dry completely.
Meanwhile create the tree stand. The compact disk will serve as a base for the tree. Apply glue to the back of the compact disk. Sprinkle glitter over the glue and shake to
remove the excess. Allow to dry. Once they have dried, glue the tree to the compact disk.
Next children can glue on or string on embellishments of their choosing to decorate the tree. Optionally, spray the entire project with photo finish spray.
